The last official meeting of the Club each year is usually the Christmas Party and so it was that members and guests gathered at Kittery Point farm, home of Club President Anne Watkins, for an afternoon of holiday cheer. Anne’s gracious home was decorated in the season, with a “carriage horse motif” most prominent. It has been said before that the PDC could possibly be just a “cover up” for some of Virginia’s finest cooks, giving them a place to show off their most delectable creations. This time — maybe because no one was distracted by cleaning harness, readying horses or loading carriages — the food hit a new high mark! Members embellished Anne’s roast leg(s) of lamb/ham with an array of creative and delicious side dishes. There were oodles of breads, deserts and assorted munchies. Spirits were high and all who came gave thanks for yet another fun, happy and safe year of driving. The Club held over 30 picnic drives this year, exceeding its own record. Onward to 2014!!!
